Nice older country style hotel in a nice location with good views of the Pennines.

The restaurant was excellent, lovely food & friendly efficient service.

The bathroom is in need of refubishment but a little bleach would get rid of the black mould around the bath & shower.

A design and construction that complemented the beautiful scenic location. Well designed ,tasteful, comfortable quality furniture and furnishings in all areas including dining and bar areas. Excellent full English breakfasts (included in room rate) served with quality crockery, glassware and utensils (delighted to see no plastic, paper plates etc!).Excellent other meals too. All staff always smartly dressed, professional, extremely courteous and helpful at all times. Very comfortable room and bed with all ammenities. Excellent free and easy internet access. Will stay again and will strongly recommend to others. Please congratulate all the staff.

Lot of noise from private receptions on first night (Friday) till very late. This was followed the next morning by reception guests sitting outside, in the warm weather, being very noisy. Suggest private reception guests should be reminded to be mindful of comfort of hotel guests and turn down noisy behaviors.

I have stayed there before, I like the restaurant and the situation.

1 A double room with only one chair. 2 The food was variable - I had a particular dish on the first night which I enjoyed so much I ordered it again the second night but it was burnt and very disappointing. I was surprised when told on the second night it was the head chef who had prepared it. You'd be better off without him or her.

They have a good chef. The food was very good

We weren't able to use the Restaurant of an evening.also we booked a table 3 weeks ago and we had to and we had to really stick to our guns to have our lunch in the Restaurant. It was a special day.It was my mum's87th birthday. It all worked out in the end.The waiting staff were great. But I do think that the Manager should have come to us to apologise for the inconvenience.

It was superb for our 2 nights stay especially as the temperature fell to zero! The Staff were wonderful throughout, always smiling, always helpful and interested in us and why were we staying. Since we had come for a wedding (not the one at The Manor) we commented there on how friendly the people were compared with the South!!! I would like to make a special reference to Rachael, at The Bar and Table, such a lovely young lady and an absolute treasure. The food was also excellent and the breakfast really set us up for the chilly weather.

Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast choices The view from the front upstairs rooms is brilliant

Can be very exposed in stormy weather.

I have stayed here several times. It is my hotel of choice if on business in the Huddersfield area. Quiet location, yet close to m62. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, dinner menu not extensive but good value and best steaks around. Free internet and plenty of parking space.

  • Older travelers

The restaurant was excellent, good prices and choices with generous helping and attentative staff.

I was in room 19 which seemed to be directly over, or next door to the hotel's air conditioning unit. It which was extremly noisy and swiched on and off at regular intervals, about every 10mins in the evening and 30mins overnight, making sleep very difficult. The decor was rather dark what with the brown ceilings, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The light over the bathroom basin did not work. I made these points to reception on checkout.

  • Older travelers

The location was lovely and the external look of hotel was great

The reception greeting was rather less than friendly, I was surprised to hear I had already paid for this hotel they had devotees my account without my authorisation some days before I arrived, I think this is very worrying. There were stains all over the bedroom carpet very off putting. There is no lift but stairs are well spaced and there is a sturdy hand rail. Even in the deluxe room there is no handrail in the shower for balance. The whole hotel needs a really good clean and redecoration.
